ThisBritish 1786 pattern Infantry sword was found at the position of theBritish 44th Regiment of Foot on the right side of the British lineafter the Battle of North Point Maryland, fought on September 12,1814. It was found by ensign John Sinclair whoserved in the Baltimore Pateriots,

This sword is 38 1/4” long with an engraved 317/8” blade, brass double oval guard, brass wire wrapped grip 8 pommel can. It was made (&maker marked on the right side of the blade S. HARVEY (over) BIRM/mBirmingham) inside of an oval, a figure of a man with a raised sword,a crown , laurel branches & leaves & other militarily designs. The left side is engraved with a pair oflarge ovals with DIEV MON.DROLT. on the top one & HONI. SOITULMLY. PENSE on the bottom one, a standing woman, laurel branches &leaves, a leaf & other designs. It is in good & fairlywell used condition with the blade still dully shiny & all theengraving is clear & easy to read. The guardis brass with the double oval design & has a raised design on thefront. The arm that connects thebrass crown design pommel cap has a raised design at the back design& the grip is wrapped with brass wire. Theyare in good condition with a dark brass patina & the front of thewire wrap has come loose.

It comes with a certificateof authenticity & a Hutton family letter.
