\"K\" MILITIA WAIST BELT PLATE, CIRCA 1840-60
Attractive U S militia plate of heavy sheet brass with wide belt hook and heavy bar on reverse. On the face is a large silvered brass letter \"K\", separately applied. The plate is slightly convex & meas. appx. 2 1/4\" x 2 1/2\". The brass has a very aged look with much silver on the letter K. This is a typical militia plate worn by both North & south during the Civil War. See S. Kerksis, fig. 200. Bellinger\'s Miliitary Antiques has been selling antique militaria for over 35 years.
