Libby Prison Civil War Rare Brick Artifact
Hello, I'm Shakey Jake. I'm a VICP - very important cat president. I reside at Act Of Kindness Animal Sanctuary with my staff. I have cerebellar hypoplasia, so I don't walk a straight line. I have a tendency to fall over a lot. Act Of Kindness Animal Sanctuary was fortunate to have some Libby prison bricks donated to them from a Chicago police officer. Let me tell you the interesting story on how he acquired them. He answered a call of property damage to the Chicago Coliseum. The caretaker said an old Pontiac crashed into the brick wall and he was going to close the hole with concrete blocks. The police officer asked if he could take the bricks to build a small barbecue. The caretaker helped him load the bricks in the trunk of thesquad car. He put them in his mother's garage. The caretaker thought it was hilarious that a police officer was building a barbecue out of prison bricks. The caretaker stated " you may not know this, but the wall the bricks came from was the last standing rear wall of Libby Prison".My assistant (she thinks she's the president, but we know better), said, "What do we want with bricks? We wouldn't have enough to build any barbecue." Being the intelligent and enterprising handsome cat I am, I knew their value as rare Civil War artifacts, that could help raise funds for the animals. Here's a brief history of Libby Prison. LIBBY PRISON Richmond, Virginia 1861-1865 Hell On Earth For Over 50,000 Union Officers!
