Not knowing muich about peacoats other than i want one, they are warm, and look nice, i don't know if this oen is Soviet or Russian or even maybe Ukrainian. The date code is a little hard to read. I'll probobly get it either way but would just liek to know what insignia I will need.

Justin,
From what I can make of the label, sounds Soviet to me. Marc |

Seems like navy winter wear... when I first saw the pic, it felt like half the coat was missing, like if it was a long winter coat that has been shortened, but looking closer it is probably a correct pea coat.

hey,
it is a soviet version. i know because i have a russian version that i accidently bought looking for a soviet one. boards are tough to find for that (i have tried, believe me). now, for the difference... on your shoulders, there is no loop of fabric attached by a button for a SLIP ON rank board. on the russian ones there are these attachment loops. the soviet boards for this are sewn on as opposed to slipped on. hope this helps and i hope i am right (or at least not completely wrong
