Mongolian Order of the Red Banner of Labor, type 1
Just got this nice mongolian order and I hope someone here can tell me more about it. This order was made (in great quality) in the USSR by the "Mondwor" and is numbered. Any opinions about the date it was awarded, for which deeds and could it be awarded to a soviet? Any idea about the value? Many thanks!

Majorpayne,
According to Dietrich Herfurth's catalog (3rd Edition - 1999), this Mongolian Order of the Red Banner of Labor, type 1, has been issued from 1945 to 1970. Around 4,000 orders issued. Price quotation in the catalog : 230 € ( in 1999). The type 2, issued from 1970, has been made in around 2,000 ex. "Because of political, economic and military constraints, the distribution of Mongolian awards ouside of Mongolia went primarily to citizens of teh Soviet union". Hope this helps. Ch. |

Majorpayne,
Why did you decide it was type 1? It's common type 3 (1945-1970). |

Eugene,
It seems there are - regarding sources - different way of presenting it : It is sometimes presented as being the continuity of the Order of Red Banner for Military Valour, type 2 (1940). (see photo). In this case, it becomes the Type 3, as you stated. In my view, these are two different orders... Is it correct ? Ch. |

Christophe,
What you are showing is Order of Red Banner for Military Valour - Type II - 1940 emission. Type I was called Order for Civil Valour and was issued in 1926 - see attached picture. Majorpayne bought Type III (1945 emission), as Eugene noted previously. William |
