Maybe. Is it a personal choice ? on the other pictures I've seen, afghan medals are worn on the left side with the soviet medals.

Is the uniform he wears a soviet era parade uniform or later issue? Is it double or single breasted?

And lapel edges are downpointed; his uniform has breast pockets and also wears a patch in the left sleeve.
