I just have to share this one that came in recently. This is my first Glory III award for fighting in Hungary and one of the better citations I have. This guy should have been awarded 2nd class!

Enjoy

Brendan, you're making a common mistake, even for the grunts in the field back during the war.

The 2nd Class could NOT be awarded, no matter how valorous the citation, until the recipient had earned the 3d Class.

If it was clearly a great feat and the recipient didn't have a 3d Class, he would have been awarded a higher award, i.e. Red Star, OPWI/II, Red Banner, Lenin, HSU.

My bad,

perhaps I should have said he could have been awarded a III class for actions in the first part of the day and a II class for his actions in the later part of the day
