Question Makers marks, Numbers & Letters

Different numbers have been seen on the reverse of different awards.

See this thread :

strange nr in the ogpw2- class reverse

Does a "correspondance" chart of these makers marks exist ? Can we identify them, as it is, for example, the case for the German awards ?

Many thanks.

Ch.

Christophe,
This is certainly an interesting topic, but after having an initial look through the web nothing turned up on a list that has been compilied on this subject.
And I know of no list which gives the number on the reverse a link to a makers name.
We could start by making our own list of numbers that have been sighted on our awards. Maybe in the future we can place a name to the number.
For example maker number 7 seems to have been responsible for OGPW's

Eddie.

Eddie,

For the list, the award I was referencing also had number "7" from the Moscow Mint, but was a Order of Suvorov 3c. This sounds like an interesting topic.

Art,

I've added your number to the list. Certainly very interesting. I wonder why some have makers marks and some not?

Eddie.

Art,
Maybe a silly question, but when you say Moscow mint did it have ммд on the reverse or монетный Двор?

Mints

гознак - Administration of the Production of Money or other valuable Documents, this agency printed award certificates for both honorary and meritorious decorations.

мондвор - contraction for mint.

монетный Двор - mint (for both Moscow and Leningrad)

ммд - Moscow mint.

ленинградский монетный Двор - Leningrad mint.

Eddie.

Strange

Guys,

Notice that at the moment only OGPW's and Suworow's have numbers or letters. And they are all from монетный Двор

Is this the start of a pattern? Or just coincedence?
Surely this is bound to change.

BTW I'll edit all numbers and letters into post #2

Eddie.

Order Badge of Homour screwback

Here is a picture of an Order Badge of Honour with number 5 on the top of the screw thread. The Order has no mint mark. S/N is 2947.
