All,
The ongiong thread concerning non Soviet HSU's got me thinking. How many Soviets received "Hero" titles from other nations? I have read that some of the Marshals from WWII received some but was wondering if anyone had any more information? TIA? John |

Hi John,
How many has to be researched but Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev must be one of the favourites to have the most. Apart from his HSU's he also recived the "Hero of Cuba" The poor quality pic (sorry about that) shows him being awarded the "Hero of Czechoslovakia" The "Hero of SRV", "Hero of the MPR" etc. Brezhnev called the meeting "the Congress of victory over the enemies of socialism" after he had been awarded with the Czechoslovak heroes golden star. Eddie.

Soviet recipients of foreign "Hero" titles
Quote:
Thanks Eddie, Maybe I should narrow the topic to start. Apart from the foreign HSU thread, what made me ask this question was seeing that some of the WWII marshals and generals received foreign "Hero" titles. Let's start with them. TIA. John |

John,
Just one point, this thread really belongs in the research section of the forum maybe Art could move it for you. here is a start though. 4-Star HSU Marshal Georgi Zhukov also recived the "Hero of the MPR" Gold Star. Eddie.

I agree with Eddie, this would be a reaserch thread.
An other way to do this would be a thread for each country. Why not start with Hero of Mongolia? G.K. Zhukov I.I. Fedyuninskiy Both for Khalkhin Gol. Also: Stalin Voroshilov Konev Brezhnev This would mean that 12 more are to be counted. 17 soviet citizens got Hero of M.P.R., according to this site: http://users.skynet.be/hendrik/eng/39Mongolia.html /Kim |

Thanks Eddie,
I agree that one country should be done at a time. We have Mongolia, what's next? I saw from one of posted threads that Bulgaria awarded it Hero title sparingly. How about Bulgaria? I think Gagarin received it. I also think Tolbukhin received it. John |

"Hero of NVA VC"
1. Brezhnev, Leonid Ilich - June, 1980.
2. Kosygin, Alexey Nikolaevich - June, 1980. 3. Bykowski, Waleri Fjodorowitsch - ? John I've done the "Hero of NVA" first because these are probably the only three Soviets to recive this award. Eddie.

Thanks Eddie,
There's two lists. What's next? I also see why Brezhnev has the best shot at having the most foreign hero titles. How many have has he been mentioned having so far? 3 or 4? John |
