Battle of Moscow

Do you have any good books to recommand on the subject "Battle of Moscow" to recommend?

It should be in English, French or German. My Russian is still not good enough.

Battle of Moscow

Soviet,
I'd start with these books:
Battle for Moscow: The 1942 Soviet General Staff Study by Michael Parrish (Hardcover - Sep 1989)

Assault on Moscow 1941: The Offensive, the Battle, the Set-Back by Werner Haupt (Hardcover - Jan 1, 2000)

They are available at Amazon.com

Best,
Doc

Battle of Moscow

Soviet,
I would start with:
Battle for Moscow: The 1942 Soviet General Staff Study by Michael Parrish (Hardcover - Sep 1989)

The other is written slightly through German eyes, But still excellent books about the battle.

Best,
Doc

The Greatest Battle

Subtitled "Stalin, Hitler, and The Desperate Struggle For Moscow That Changed The Course of World War Two" by Andrew Nagorski. 2007 Simon & Schuster.
I like this book a great deal even though I've been reading a lot less lately. The author writes in a simpler style (less textbook-like), and quotes a lot of survivors of the GPW, both German and Russian, as well as referencing memoirs of the 'big dogs' of the era (Zhukov comes to mind a lot).
It has less to do with the *actual* battle (although that's the main point of the book) than what led up to it (including American and British views and comments on the situation) and what happened after it. The book's more of a strategic commentary on the early part of the GPW than what happened in Moscow in 41/42.
We hear from A.H., J.S., Churchill, F.D.R., Beria, Goebels, Molotov; "lesser players" like Guderian and Zhukov, and regular "grunts" via written letters and actual memories.
I give this one a five out of five.

I would start with:

Paul Carell - Unternehmen Barbarossa - Ullstein Verlag 1991

It is about the first part of the German invasion of Russia from Moscow to Stalingrad.

I like his writing style, he mixed the historical action with many true "short stories" what happened to soldiers.

regards
Andreas

If you want an overview with pics, Osprey recently put out a book on the battle.

Thank you guys! I'll have a look at your suggestions. Actually I was looking to something equivalent to Anthony Bevor book Stalingrad, but this time on Moscow.

I guess some of your suggestions fit in what I am looking for.
