Space Exploration Awards, Volume II, Part I...
Of particular interest to me was this Commemorative Medal 10 Years of Test Center #1 of the Barmin General Engineering Design Bureau Branch.
"On May 17 and October 26, 2004, the TsI-1 and TsI-2 test centers of the Baikonur cosmodrome-based Barmin Design Bureau's branch celebrated their 10th anniversary. Commemorative were timed to those dates. The medals were presented without award papers to employees of the Barmin Design Bureau and allied organizations for active participation in preparation and launching of the Soyuz and Proton launch vehicles." Obverse: "In the central part against the starry sky background is a raised picture of the Soyuz space launch complex. At the top is the semicircling inscription <The TsI-1 Test Center of the Barmin General Engineering Design Bureau Branch FSUE>, Dates <1994 17 V 2004> are arranged in the bottom as a semicircle. At the top left is the two-line inscription <10 years>." Reverse: " In the left part is a raised picture of an obelisk built on the occasion of the first Earth's artificial satellite launch. The eight-line inscription <Here, By The Ingenuity Of A Soviet Man, A Daring Storm Of The Space Commenced> is in the right. In the upper part is the two-line inscription <Gagarin Launch Pad> and a laurel wreath is arranged at the bottom." Quanity: 500 pieces. This particular medal has a different ribbon plate and the inscription "Baikonur" on it from other examples I've seen. Any comments? Thanks! |

Eric,
I just went onto the eastview.com website, typed in Omel'ko under author, and brought up both his Space Exploration Awards book. The listing says both are in stock. I even added one in my basket. How did you spell Omel'ko, or Omelko? Omel'ko worked for me. (Note: only 1300 copies were made of each book.) Space Cadet Last edited by SPACECADET1983; 02-29-2008 at 08:12 PM. |

I ordered the book (on the website it is in stock). I paid for it.
However, I received an E-mail from them that they don't have the book at this time. They will contact me in 30 days. Eric |
