Red Star document posthumously
I think this is very interesting document. At least I never seen this kind of document before. This document issued to the Hero posthumously. The Red Star found his Hero later (no number of the Order). BTW the document signed by Gorbachev.

Re: Red Star document posthumously
Eric,
The actual order was most likely never given, just the document. Alexei

Re: Red Star document posthumously
Guys,
Wouldn't that booklet fall into the range of late unissued serial numbers? Marc |

There is no number of the order at all. It can be any, because it does not exist. Probably Alexei is correct saying that the order never been awarded to the receient. Just Order Book has been awarded to the family (his sister Kolesnikova Elena Timofeevna). You can see her name on the book. |

Re: Red Star document posthumously
Eric,
I was refering to the booklet serial number. Blank order booklets of the latter types (prefix letters Л and М) were, and sometimes are, available for sale. Marc |

Not to imply all forgers are rational, but someone could have added a higher award like a Lenin or late # Red Banner to the booklet and got significantly more. ![]() |

Re: Red Star document posthumously
Paul,
They are now selling in the $100 vincinity, but that wasn't always the case... I remember a time, not that long ago, when you could pick these up for $5 a piece; wartime blank booklets (yes, I've seen some of these too, although much less often) were going for substantially more $$$, eg $25 ![]() Marc |
