How much would an Order of the Red Star w/ document and orig. presentaion box, and and Order of the Great Patriotic War 1st Class w/ document and orig. presentaion box each be worth?

Is the GPW 1st class a war time issue or a 1985 issue?

It is also important to note the numbers of the Red Star--lower numbers=earlier issue=more value assuming there isn't damage. Also, I should think if both were awarded to the same person that might increase the price--also if it were a she, KGB/NKVD instead of just army, etc.. Overall, it is very hard to tell with just the basics outlined in your posting (thus the problems we have all been discussing with creating a general price guide). Overall, assuming WWII issues for both, very good-superior quality in all awards, documents and boxes, probably $150-$200 for both.

Im not sure, But next time i stop by the place that has them ill ask the owner. The Red Star looked like it was high quality, but the OGP1 looked a little worn. The price for each of them was $150.

$150 for the Red Star is scandolous--at least 4-5 times too high for even an early issue Star (assuming Monetnuu Dvor mint mark). $150 for the GPW 1st class, assuming WWII issue, multi-piece construction, perfect condition with the extras isn't as badly overpriced. Usually they alone go for about $100-$120 since they have intrinsic gold value.

No offense, but you should be more careful before you say that a red star with booklet and presentation box at $150 is a scandelous price.
The early Monetny Dvor red stars start at the 5 digit serial number range and I have not seen to many 5 digit serial number red stars available even though theoretically there should be about 90,000 of them out there. You mentioned earlier that the price depends on lots of things which you listed. We don't know yet if this particular one has any of the qualities you listed. If we found out just that it is a low 5 digit serial number red star say below the 20,000 range, I for one would be very willing to pay $150 for it here in the U.S. Rick |

I would also have no problems paying this price IF, the box was original, in original condition and the lower the number on the award the better. I don't know about re-sale value here, I'd be buying for my own collection with this one.
Remember, the Red Star was a very prestigious award once ( along with Order of Lenin, Hero of Socialist Labor, etc..) then they started giving them out for anything. Between 1930-1941, they were award approx. 25,000 times. Between 1941-1945, there were almost 3 million given out! I would assume that the price would be for an Early Monetny Dvor with screwpost post. If it's a MONDVOR, it's a deal! Art Quote:

Hi Art
I agree, the early Red Stars were hard earned. This is my 5 diget, red star probably Finnish War. Note it has an earlier number than observed Paul McDanial. The enamal is in perfect condition. Chris |
