Doing Some Research on the "Spider"

Guys,

I am doing some research on the Service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces 3rd Class missor reverse variation. So far I have observed the following pieces:

1113-1155 (1916 has plain reverse),
2037-2618 (2684 has plain reverse), as well as numbers
2733 (number 2478 has plain reverse),
3341, (number 3624 has plain reverse),
4399 and 4417 (number 4953 has plain reverse),
4994, 5388 (5706 has plain reverse),
5748,
54XXX (!!!)

The other variation I am interested in is a partial mirrow image reverse with the lines present only on the bottom ray of the rayed star. So far I have seen:

10621, 13530 (weak image), 19137, 22380, 26724 and 27015.

Would love to know what you have/have seen and would appreciate detailed pictures either here or by e-mail.

Alexei

Re: Doing Some Research on the "Spider"

#26415, apparently partial relief (poor quality photo)
#26978, partial relief
Unfortunately, I don't have any more scans, and none at all in the 54xxx range.
Hope this helps,

Marc

Re: Doing Some Research on the "Spider"

Marc,

Thanks! This helps tremendously ... and complicates things even more. I am just trying to find is there is any pattern, and so far I am unsure.

Your posts made me do a more thorough search.

0423 is flat back, all previous are apparently flat;
0459 and 0870 have clear mirror reverse;
0871 is already flat back;
0944 looks like a very weak partial mirror (???);
0982, 1113, 1134, 1155, 1455, 1695 - clear mirror reverse;
1916 is flat back;
2037, 2379, 2487, 2565, 2576, 2618, 2733, 3341 - clear mirror reverse;
3624 - flat back;
3923, 4399, 4417 - partial relief;
4480 - mirror reverse;
4953 - plain;
4994 - mirror reverse;
5024, 5090, 5328 - weak partial relief;
5388 - mirror reverse;
5706 - plain reverse;
5748 - mirror reverse;
5848 - partial;
all plain in this range (?)
10621, 10941, 11200, 13530, 13571, 14136, 14441, 16341, 16467 - partial relief;
16685 - plain;
16855, 17126 - partial relief;

Partial relief pieces are also observed, apparently randomly, in the 20XXX-30XXX range.

One mirror reverse piece was observed in the 54XXX range.

None were observed in the 60XXX-... range.

Alexei
