There are a number of good reference books out there or, failing that, try our own reference page: The Soviet Military Awards Page. Medals, History and Russia!

When starting a new field, begin with the books, and only then move on to the medals.

We, Italians, are sentimental people, come on! And with our current prices, 3 €, is the equivalent of "Cornetto e Cappuccino" (breakfast)

Paul, is anyway right. Matapan: buy some books! Even because, I had the impression that in Italy some people think that there are no fakes for a portion of medals where instead, we have fakes! Moreover, I have seen sky-high prices for very common medals!

Saluti & Greetings

hello Marco,

I think yours opinion is correct!
In Italy there are very little number of collector of soviet medal.
I dont know because of this but I think that all italian collector are interested only on Italian and german militaria.
there is feeling that soviet medal are all of hight number of coniage (million and million of number for each medal) and poor in iconografy (and this is incorrect!)!

unless yesterday night when I started to watch section abuot "Repro" I was personally of the idea that soviet medal were without reproduction but now I understand that this was not the correct idea..

My first step wil be buy a book about Soviet medal..then I can will start to buy!
