I've been there yesterday and also took some pictures. Should these medals be considered as museum copy?

Soviet,

I guess so. They don't look genuine to me.

Gold plated medals

So, what is the final verdict? Are these gold washed medals? Are they a genuine variation? I have read about some of the "gold washed' campaign medals but never heard of the combat medals having a variation in gold.

Tal Inbar, I tried the link and it did not work...

Best,
Doc

Doc,

I was talking specifically about those medals from the museum, but there are also legitimate gold washed medals. I wil try to find some to post.

It didn't come out very shiny, so you will have to trust me on that

Hi,

here is one of my Leningrad medals. It has thick and nice gold plating and it is so called ''polished sky'' variation.
