MinTaur,

Were you able to get any other information about him? How did he die? Also it might be a good idea to contact the Russian embassy - he might still have relatives in Russia, who know nothing about him.

Alexei

I found some interesting informations about a soldier with this name. I believe he's the same person.

Gvardeyskiy Krasnoarmeets Aleksei Andreevich Chudinov
born: 1910 Petrushevskay, Archangelsk's area
fell in the fight: 4th August 1943
buried in Orel's area, Beldashkino

He was awarded from the order of 3rd Guard Parachute Artillery Regiment (3-y Gvardeyskiy Vozdushno-Desantnyy Artillerskiy Polk). But I don't know any informations about this unit. Could somebody help me with that?

Thanks!

Hello!

I got a next Bravery medal as a present. It was found in Upper Silesia and its number is 1321699. Can someone find out, when was the medal approximately awarded?

Thanks!

Yesterday I got new informations about Chudinov's medal For Bravery from another archive in Russia!

Now I know why he was awarded. The granting command sounds: "...at 13rd March 1943 during the toughest fights he hung up the telephone line on a tree, regardless of german mortar shelling...".

Re: Question about a Bravery Medal

Man, what a truely astounding story. Finding something lost for 50 years, and then attaching a name and deed to it.... What a literal treasure.

I wonder if Chudinov's family could be traced?
