Tretov,

That is most likely because that is all they got, not because of changes in regulations.

No, look at pages 98, 99, 100, 222 and 223 for example. Yet again, these are just images and I am not 100% sure what the text says.

Thanks for the input everyone.

It is becoming more and more apparent that I need a copy of the regulations book, and a crash course in the Russian language. Does anyone have an extra copy of the 1988 book? PM me if so. Thanks.

Tretov,

Can you please email me scans of these pages, so I can figure out what you are talking about (please make them readable so I can translate them).

Here we go:

These are the images, I dont know exactly where in the text it is mentioned. But as you can see only a few anniversary medals are worn, in fact no WW2 victory anniversary medals.

There is a 25th Anniversary of Victory badge on the wearer's right breast - a badge I know, not a medal, but a victory jubilee award nonetheless. I'm just guessing the illustrator didn't want to draw all those additional victory anniversary medals.

Can't someone just look in the regulations, so that we can end the discussion with a fact?

I dont have them in english though and my russian is not good enough.

hello Marc and Tretov, I do have the book, it is about 1989 regulations...one should bear in mind these drawings have only educationnal goals and stand therefore for example. If you compare the drawings in the nice 1969 book, some drawings are identical, but slightly modified to comply with rules evolution...for example the medals worn in diagonal then switched to horizontal display...and for marschals of SU, they're full up to the throat of medal in 1969 (Joukov has just died few month ago), in 1988 the MSU has less medals...like the marschals of 1989 who were not of the fighting generation (they didn't know the war as high-ranking commanders).

the definitive clue in my opinion: the drawing are here to show ditsance and displaying for the greater majority of sutuations...not a lot of militaries in active duty in 1988 could display more of 2 raows of mledals. And if necessary, the rules between 2nd and 3rd rows are the same than between 1st and 2nd...
For veterans coverred of pins and jubilees medals we know they tooks liberties about displaying, and very high ranking generals followed too exceptions for displaying kilos of metal!
