Eric,

These medals are OK, but the suspention is in bad condition. You have to remember that only PART of the space medals were minted in MMD or LMD, hence the low quality of other medals.

In my last count - I have 20 soviet space medals! (by the standarts set yesterday on ebay, I am rich!.....)

I beg to differ about these two medals.
The Korolev medal is a poor-quality cast fake.
The second medal seems original, but I think that the suspension is not original to this medal, but to a VDNKh medal.

I am sorry for the quick reply I posted - The korolev medal does look bad - and the RING....

I would like to see beter scans of the medal.

Eric,

These are Soviet isued badge which were given to space officials and representatives from outside the USSR, hence the English. They were distibuted on scientific conferences, exhibitions etc.

I cheked it again. This is the First issue of the medal, from 1971. It appears in the book on space medals - and it is genuine, including the suspention and pin.

Mark - it is NOT a fake what so ever. Later issues were similar, but not the same design of KOROLEV face. About 3000 medals like this were made.

It looks like the book is excellent. BTW, did you find the second one?
Now, I will start looking for this book. It is hard to find.
