Re: Space Medals
Yes, I came across the medal in COMMEMORATIVE [TABLE] MEDAL OF THE SOVIET PERIOD, 1919-1991 by A. Salykov and A. Shkurko. Great book! It covers most of the commemorative medals minted at the Moscow and Leningrad Mints during that period. Goes by year and gives artist's name, material, size, quanity, mint, and comments on the occasion the medal was presented. Great resource! I bought it to help me in my search for Space Medals.

Re: Space Medals
As you can tell by the number of commemorative Space Medals I've picked up this year, I Love Them!

Space Medal Set
Hi,
bought these set with two documents and one medal a few days ago on a flea market. The medal seems to be for 35 years of Space Center in Baikonur. But which Gagarin medal (missing) belongs to the second document (any pictures?) Does anybody know something about the value of these set / medals? regards and thanks Andreas |

I believe there is a good probability the Gagarin medal is the Cosmonautics Federation of the USSR's World's First Flier-Cosmonaut Yuri A. Gagarin Medal(First issue). Minted in 1986 at the Moscow Mint. Quanity: 4,500 pieces. I've posted a picture. Also, the certificate matches up pretty close to the one in SPACE EXPLORATION AWARDS: Catalog, Volume I, a picture of which I've also posted. As for the value of these awards, I'll defer to Tal or Eric. ![]() Mike
