Eric,

I disagree with you on that one; Space is a VERY popular theme in many countries.
And we need to remember that Russia is a place where they even fake bottled water, so anything costing over $0.10 is fair game IMHO

Eric,

Sergei is right about IMHO.

Sergei,

Fake bottled water - that is water sold in bottle that purports to be original mineral water - is a very common occurence here these days. Now, we need to keep in mind that the original 1.5l bottle costs approximately 25~30 roubles (~US$1), whereas the faked water costs about 20 roubles (~US$0.65). Given those figures, you can understand my previous statement that anything worth $0.10 or more has become fair game

Going back to the space medals (or other medals).
Would we consider as a fake medal that was made at the Moscow Mint, but ''under the table''?
I know that there are situations when the Mint gets an order to make number of medals. Some employees would make 30-40 medals more and steal them from the factory. These medals are the same as ''legal'' medals. They are just some extras. It is imposible to tell, which one is which. They are the same.
This is what I believe is heppening with Space (and other new) medals now.

Do you KNOW that? How?

We talked about this issue a while ago, and some of THE experts on the forum agreed that this is very remote possibility.

If you can tell us more about your sources it will be great.

I believe that there is NOTHING in common with legit space medals:

Note the poor quality, the suspension, the ring....

I consider these just a fantasy medals.
