nope,

I forget what unit, but central asian, used it during the late russian civil war period. It was used in 1922 from what I remember. I'll see what I can find in the paltry civil war uniform guides I have.

The swastika did NOT originate as a Nazi symbol of hatred. SWASTIKA is derived from the Sanskrit word: SVASTIKAH, which means 'being fortunate'. The swastika an ancient symbol of good luck, prosperity, and long life, used in ancient cultures such as India and China. (Credit: http://www.innerx.net/personal/tsmith/swas.html)

Hitler just reversed the sign and used it. That's the third popular trend that he screwed up for the world. The first two being the half-moustache and the hair-combing to the left.

Anyway, sorry I am on a rant...

Eric

Tal,

It was also extensively used on bank notes of the Provisional Government.

Also used by China and Finland during the World War Two Period. It is actually well known today as a Hindu good luck symbol.
