Image Attachment Increase for Dedicated Members

Members,

Upon careful consideration, and discussion with the moderators and a few of you in private, the following changes to the maximum image upload will take place:

1. Members with more than 150 posts will have their maximum upload increased to 100K (currently the limit is 50K). Those below 150 posts will remain at 50K. All members will be allowed to post a maximum of 3 images per post. You may reply to your own post and add images if you feel that is necessary.

2. Donating members will be allowed 120K, per image and will have their private message box increased to 50 messages (up from the current 25 messages for non-donating members). In looking for other ways to increase forum resources for donating members, the suggestion was made to increase the length of Private Messages. Unfortunately this is a software limitation and cannot be implemented.

Please note that with these increased file sizes, we might experience slowdowns or lagginess in the forum, or even the White Screen of Death. This website resides on a shared webserver, so we are also at the mercy of other sites as well. That's the tradeoff we'll have to live with in exchange for bigger, prettier pictures.

The other rules regarding image posting are still in effect. If you wish to link to anything on a free image hosting website such as image-shack, photo-heap, picture-dump, or equivalent, a suitable thumbnail image must be posted for each link. If a good quality image isn't posted, the link will be deleted. No arguments. No discussions. This image posting policy will be re-evaluated in one year. Depending on funds available, this may be increased or decreased.

Do not link to streaming media (such as movies) which load from another website when one views the message. These slow the load time of the entire message. These will be deleted.

Do not link to live sound files (such as marching music) which load from another website one views the message. These will be deleted.

You can and will be banned for repeated offense of the image posting rules. Read the rules posted in the announcements section.
