Fake Mother-Heroine Medal

Matteti,

Not only that, everything is wrong about it - the suspension, the loop, rivets, mint mark, etc.

One thing for sure, the star is too big for the background silver pentagon. We sometime see small tip of star going pass the background pentagon, but never four of them and by so much.

Be careful,

saw another faked hero star from the same seller but better made.
Seems to be a mass production using economies of scale effects to
reduce the production costs.

I'm surprised : Are the stars in real gold ? If yes, why are they so wide ?
Amongst us, has anyone done a "in hand observation" of these fakes ?

Ch.

Andreas,

Thanks for posting it.

Christophe,

The stars on those fakes are usually made of gilded brass.

Mother Heroine 43.945

Hello,

what do you think about this Mother Heroine medal. The edges of the gold star looks very sharp. The gold star looks a little bit to big. And the ear a little bit to small.

regards
Andreas

Alfred, I believe this Mother-Heroine is absolutely original. BTW, do you know that there was two different dies for Mother-Heroine's silver part?

different dies for Mother-Heroine's

Andrew, I didn´t know that there are two different dies for Mother-Heroine's silver part. Did they differ in the size and the connecting of the loop? and in the letters on the suspension?

regards
Andreas

Andreas, the difference is most obvious when you compare the central part of the silver star. Take a look at the attached picture and you'll understand what I mean. Apparently, you can find some other smaller features in those dies. I must confess that I didn't pay much attention to Mother Heroine "watermarks" because until recently no one tried to fake them.
