Purchase to good to be true?

I just purchased a lot of medals at a price that seems way to good to be true. However when they arrived i took a look and they seem to be very nice with the exception of the imperial china medal which looks to be a plated bronze piece. It appears stamped and perhaps of private purchase origin?? The George cross looks stellar in person these pics make it look to have pitting which it doesn't and the features on the obverse are much crisper. Anyway the other items are:

orb 323474
og3 243130 other one is erased
mmm 887507
ors 2014888
valour medal 613694, 768285
cross of st.George 4th class 564042
russian medal for boxer campaign looks like it may be plated bronze???

Chris,

I already answered you on the other forum, but might as well here: you hit the jackpot. All the Soviet awards are nice originals.

Re: Purchase to good to be true?

Here's an overall pic of the obverses. I managed to get al these for several hundred dollars less then the going rate for the red banner alone. I'm not going to keep the imperial pieces they were just tag alongs. The dealer i got these from tended not to keep items together if they weren't mounted together so hopefully i can find someone who can researcch these and fingers crossed a couple may belong with one another.

Cheers
Chris

Re: Purchase to good to be true?

Maybe you'll get lucky on that like you said. It seems that sometimes when you buy several things at one time, you get the occasional match. Today I found 11 BMs. In that block, two were almost consecutive (2,478,604 and 2,478,618). I'm hoping that, given their solid wartime numbers, they came from one soldier since I bought them at the same time from the same dude. I strongly suspect that same guy got both at the same time for different acts from the same box or lot of medals. That's happened to me one other time when I got two BM's only two digits apart at the same time from the same seller. Still waiting on research though. One day I may issue my own medals or badges to commemorate the anniversaries of received research...

Brian, I've had this experience 4-5 times. I can almost guarantee you these belong to the same guy and/or any campaign medals that may have been present.
