Re: New Group

Everything I've read seems plausible - even all of the items being completely genuine. To me, what it comes down to is that the pictures are not the best (I'm sure the originals are better, but as we see them, they are off. All you have to do is look at the ribbons and see what has happened to supposedly straight lines. Simon, this may also explain the odd-looking Prague's rays).

Re: New Group

Hi,

what is that "blue-ish" drop - like spot up the 5 o`clock star tip on the reverse ?

If it is lead or just glue, it will be no good sign concerning the whole piece. Also I think, it looks to unworn and clean to represent a genuine, early - type order of the Great Patriotic War 1st class. The obverse nevertheless looks very convincing.

Take a look at high magnification to recognize hints and traces of manufacturing and wearing of the piece.

Re: New Group

hi again

so there seems to be mixed feelings in regards to this group, with the main focus on the OGPW I, but the rest of the group may seem to be ok?
in regards to the jubilee, anniversary and war medal only the bottom group is fixed together, the top row are all loose. i have been informed by the owner that the OGPW I has been convereted which may explain the unsual ness of that award. I am still not sure if I will buy or not, what would be a good honest price for this group

cheers for you help

It may just be the lighting for the picture but the "Prague" looks odd to me.

On point 2 above, the ribbon order of precedence may appear to be Fido's morning meal, but I believe the ribbons are actually in the correct order.

Re: New Group

Brian, absolutely correct about the ordering. My printed order of precedence diagram is missing the anniversary of victory medals - I will check the file to see if they really are missing or if it is a printing error.
