Ed,
Strange color for silver, whereas gilding looks brand-spanking new. Marc Last edited by Lapa; 03-11-2008 at 02:47 PM. |

Some of this (maybe not all?) is scanning. It scanned very oddly.

It's a genuine badge, that went through many repairs.

Paul,
I believe that this is a copy. Here are pics of an original for comparison purposes. Marc |

Re: 15 Years of VCHK-OGPU
Marc ,
Thanks for your valuable opinion , but it seems to me that other than absence of mint mark , the obverse (especially) and reverse details are completely the same. I heard that not all original of these supposed to have mint marks.. I am wondering if Alexei could express his opinion ? Thanks a lot. Paul |

Re: 15 Years of VCHK-OGPU
Paul,
If you compare closely your badge and the picture I posted, you'll see obvious differences, especially in the sharpness (or lack thereof) of details, the surface, and of course the chemical patina. Sebastien, Early mintmarks are faked. They tend to be much less detailed than the original ones; since they are incused, they do not wear much and retain most of their details. Marc |

Marc ,
Thanks again. Let's see what Alexei might say. I am placing one more image with some more details. Paul |
