Soviet parade dagger ID- interesting

Hi,

interesting ID to Soviet parade dagger. This brown cover ID is printed also locally in Soviet Estonia. ID is dated 23.09.1957 and issued by MVD of Soviet Estonian Republic!?! To militia had daggers? Or he had just regular army officer dress dagger??

Anyway first time i have a ID to parade dagger ( ID's are rare i think ).

Does someone have more information about this type of ID?

BR,

Lauri

Hmm, not sure if mvd had daggers, but can make educated conclusion.

Now, KGB did not have daggers:

There are some doubts as to their authenticity although some genuine ones are known. There are also several firearms, usually pistols or hunting rifles, that bear plaques indicating they were similar awards. Most of these date to the 1920s-30s. I have a 1930s dated metal pistol grip plaque dedicated to an OGPU officer from the railway workers he worked with (read oppressed!).
But now if i consider the relationship of branch insignia, the wreathed star, which kgb, mvd, and army had. And if KGB and army both had same dagger, most likely mvd had same dagger. You may ask, why am I making this conclusion? Well, A branch's insignia is on the scabbard of the dagger (as well as other symbols). A wreathed star (with hammer and sickle and rays coming out of it) is on army dagger. An air force dagger has its insignia, a winged propeller (with a sun and rays coming out of it in background), on the scabbard. A navy dagger has its insignia, a fouled anchor, on the scabbard.

This dagger was most likely issued to a Major in the military. The MVD (Police) did not have dagger, but was responsible for regulating weapons, and this document was issued by the MVD to confirm that the dagger was received through officially channels.
