Hello Pirochki!
Yes, a little K with a star (*) as well
I would like if you could also share pics of your two shashka for comparison of details/variations.

Thanks

Ooo....nice!!!! That is so cool, I wish I could get one.
Can I ask what the price range for these might be? Just a ballpark....

Re: looking for a soviet/cossack sabre

Hello,
I'm far from an expert, but I can share some information I learned. Price depends a lot on the condition and the type. There are two types, one for NKVD cavalry officer and one for regular Soviet army officer. The fist one (like mine) is more silverish in color and the later one is more golden. The NKVD type is rarer, thus more expensive. I don't know by how much though. I've seen some NKVD shahskas in the $1300-2000 range depending on condition.

Interesting! Where does this information come from? All my information about swords comes from Kulinsky, and his books are far from complete.

Re: looking for a soviet/cossack sabre

What a beauty! Definately now on my "want for Xmas" list.

Still regretting not having bought one of these with a Mongolian Khalkhin Gol badge impressed in it when offered to me a few years ago...

Alexei, Unfortunately, I cannot quote anybody or any reference book. This is what I came to understand from discussing with Doug (info he got from his contacts) and searching the net, reading some posts (I think from vvadim). Looks like pirochki also knows some good info about shashkas.
