F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions) for The Soviet Military Awards Page Marketplace

1. What is the Soviet Military Awards Page Marketplace?
The Marketplace is a classifieds ad program through which members may post items for sale, or items wanted, for a small fee. The program provides an interface between seller and buyer. Listings can be a fixed dollar amount or open to offers, or in an auction format. Additional features are available help you sell your item. For more information on how to list your item, please read the Marketplace "How-To" FAQs here.

There are several forum groups set aside that act as "mirrors" for the Marketplace program. New posts in any of the marketplace categories are automatically posted in the corresponding forum group. For example, posting an award for sale in the marketplace category Soviet Awards For Sale, will create a new thread in the forum group Soviet Awards For Sale with a link back to the marketplace listing.You cannot post threads in the forum marketplace groups, however the Marketplace Q&A group does allow for posting questions and comments relating to the marketplace program. The Free! section is for posting items you would like to give away. There is no charge to list there. In addition, the Marketplace Test Section is for posting practice items so you can become familiar with the program. Here are the current forum/marketplace groups:

members are encouraged to post test ads and explore program features here until confident to post "live".

2. How can I post in this section?
Any member of the forum is invited to participate in selling their items using the marketplace program. The marketplace uses "credits" which must be purchased as this is its method of payment for listings. Forum subscribers list free, plus receive 25 credits to use with various listing extras. Please read the Forum Subscription FAQ for further information.

3. How much does it cost to use?
There is a flat fee to list items for sale, auction, or wanted via the marketplace. There is no commission. If you purchase a subscription, the flat-fee is waived, and you will recieve 25 credits to use for optional sales features. The marketplace uses a cyber-credit system for listing fees. Credits can be purchased individually or in blocks via PayPal. Payment can also be sent to the administrator via postal mail in the form of a postal money order or bank check drawn on U.S. Funds. Please contact the administrator via PM to arrange payment via mail.

*automatically entitles you to a complimentary yearly subscription to the forum. One free subscription per person per year. Subscriptions cannot be stacked and used for more than one year.

Before purchasing credits, please consult the chart below for yearly subscription members and non-subscripton members. A basic listing consists of one item, posted in any of the marketplace sections (the Free! and Marketplace Test Section are free), for the time you desire (1 day up to 1 month). Extra features are available for an additional fee. For more information on Featured Listings, Relisting, Listing an identical item, and Bumping your ad, please see below.

During an active subscription, you can create basic listings for free. The additional 25 credits can be used for extra ad features.

4. What other extra sales features are available?

Featured Listings
You can upgrade a basic ad to a Featured Ad. This will help make your listing more noticeable. Items that are featured become "sticky" items within the forum groups. This means your item will remain with the other "sticky" ads at the top of the category listings and all non-featured listings will appear beneath these. Please look within the forum groups to see this in action. In addition, your item will be placed within a queue of all the other featured ads and the image and link will be rotated in the gallery at the top of the forum. You can make your listing a featured listing at any time. Simply go to your ad, scroll towards the bottom and you will see the section "Feature Your Listing". Select from three time-length packages, to feature your ad. If your featured ad length is longer than your listing, your ad will be listed at the longer time. Note: there is an additional charge for this feature.

Relisting
If your ad does not sell it will automatically close after the listing has expired. Relisting gives you an opportunity to try selling your item again. You can edit your ad and update price, description, anything you feel that you might change to sell you item. If your relisted ad length is longer than your listing, your ad will be listed at the longer time. Note: there is an additional charge for this feature.

Bumping an Ad
This feature allows users to "Bump" their listing after 7 days. Obviously, if your listing is shorter than this, you will not have this option. The Bump Ad feature allows users to "bump" their listing to the top of a category by resetting the time the ad was listed. The Bump Ad feature does NOT affect the end time so if a listing is started for 14 days and after 7 days the user decides to bump their ad it will show at the top of the category as newly listed but it will only have 7 days remaining. Note: there is an additional charge for this feature.

5. What is/isn't allowed?
Pornography, weapons, explosives, etc..awards or other items that are widely acknowledged by the membership as not authentic will also be deleted. It is highly recommended that you enable comments when you list your item in order to answer questions in public during your ongoing sale. Do your research on what you are selling and make sure it is what you say it is. If you are unsure, mention this in your ad description and make sure you have the comments feature turned on. Please keep your posts on-topic for the group they are in. If posts go into the wrong group, they will be moved. Do not post names/referrals of other websites in the sales listings. They will be deleted. Post your images ON THIS SITE. You are allowed 5 maximum images, 150K apiece. Do not link to the free image posting services, links will be deleted. Take the time and learn how to format your images correctly. 1 item per ad please.

6. Can I advertise my website within my posts?
NO. This special section is not for commercial advertisements or self-promotion. It is for the use of our members and their collecting interests and not as a cheap form of advertising for an online business, whether it be for viagra or for militaria. While subscriptions are greatly appreciated, the same rules which apply to the main forum still apply within the marketplace section. Ads will be removed that contain website information.

7. Is it safe to buy here?
CAVEAT EMPTOR (let the buyer beware) You are responsible for the business you conduct within this forum. Please read the Terms of Use Policy for this site. Always ask the seller questions if you are unsure of something. Do not assume anything. Neither myself nor the moderators will act as mediators with issues involving the use of this forum. The most secure way of insuring shipment of merchandise is to use a third-party service such as escrow.com. If your business practices are generating complaints from the membership, you will lose all rights to post here, and possibly be banned from the forum altogether. No refund of any subscription fees will be given. If you are unable to conduct business in a timely matter, (2 days or more turnaround for email) be sure to advise the other party of this. This is your responsibility. Regarding authenticity of items in this forum: It is up to the seller to honestly describe his merchandise. Ignorance of authenticity is unacceptable. Do your research. Also, be sure to leave appropriate feedback for your buyer/seller appropriate to the level of satisfaction of your transaction.

8. Return Policy All sellers will be required to have a 1 week money-back guarantee on all items sold in the marketplace. This is for protection of the buyer.

9. Can I sell items for others?
NO. All individuals selling awards here will be expected to be the legal owner of the items being sold. That means no selling for a friend, no selling for a family member, etc. IF YOU DO NOT OWN THE ITEM, DO NOT POST IT HERE. Anyone caught abusing this policy will have their selling privileges revoked. No refund of any subscription fees will be given.
