Glory III #305.987 w/doc & rsch
Decoration is in excellent condition with contemporary suspension and replaced ribbon.
Document is also in excellent condition. I believe photo to be both genuine and of the recipient. Unscrupulous people can sometimes slap in a photo just to drive up the price. I can't prove the picture is original to recipient, but wouldn't have picked it up otherwise - just adding this information for transparency. I've seen veterans add photos many years after the fact several times. Research details how Uzbek Bazarbai Karmov was seriously wounded outside of Leningrad and awarded the Leningrad campaign medal. In MAR 45 when three of his comrades accidentally walked into a minefield, he cleared an 8m path to safety, clearing out 28 mines. With that kind of density, seems like more than one person was lucky that day. Research confirms award booklet that Glory III is only serial-numbered award granted so is considered "complete". If you need a Leningrad and/or Victory over Germany I can square you away. $250 excluding postage. Thanks for looking! Last edited by desantnik; 11-13-2007 at 02:56 PM. |

I agree about the picture, what's up with that?

Early B&W images were quite frequently "re-touched" to improve contrast. Note, this was before the days of photoshop
and each had to be done by hand using a paintbrush and a bottle of solution that you could could build up the desired contrast. You can see the work of photo-retouching in many early soviet B&W images..for those that have the 2 volume set of the Heroes of the SU, take a look through there sometime for some truly comical retouching.
