This group is for an ethnic Uzbek veteran of the GPW and veteran of labor, very much just a regular dude. His civilian career was spent as a collective farm agricultural technician in Kuvinsky Region of Ferghana Oblast (Ferghana Valley) in Uzbekistan. His GPW znachok doc says he was a sergeant in the war, but his wartime stuff is MIA.

- Party membership book (in Russian and Uzbek; Sept '73 to March '90)
- Prof-Soyuz book (in Russian and Uzbek; dated 1954)

- serial numbered Uzbek Jasorat Medal/doc (given to all GPW combat veterans in Uz in '94 - has dictator Islam Karimov's facsimile signature in it)

Christophe and others: I need to note something I just now saw on the Jasorat Medal (UZ Bravery Medal) booklet. The serial number (106,154) in booklet has the final digit ("4") scraped off and then rewritten.
It looks as if the first four digits were written at one time, and then the final two written after. I'm guessing that someone pre-numbered the stack, and then filled in the last two digits as they handed out the medal.

I doubt that's a faking of the booklet since I think these went to every Uzbek combat veteran of the GPW in May 1994. I suspect that someone botched the number while ploughing through the booklets, and then fixed it. The award is quite common among GPW veterans (just as admin errors in this country are rampant). Still, I need to note it since it's an anomoly. If that changes your thoughts on bidding, I understand.

As a note: The "Jasorat Medal" went to combat veterans, and the "Shurat Medal" went to labor veterans of the war. It seems that these two were (in 1994) maybe awarded along the same lines as the VoG and VL-GPW were in the 40's.

The Jasorat is also given as a bravery medal for current combat/anti-terrorism actions in the Uzbek military, but those are rare. I personally know of one recipient of the award under those circumstances. By far, the majority of these seem to have been given in '94 to GPW veterans.
