(Frequently Asked Questions) for the Soviet Awards Marketplace

1. How can I post in this section?

All members have read access in this section, and all members can post replies to items posted. This is useful if there is a question about an item for sale. Item posting priviledges are offered as a special "Thank-You" to forum members who donate a minimum of USD $20 per year to the Forum Fund. 2. What is allowed and not allowed?

Posts can be for items wanted, or items for sale. There are two sections. The main section, "The Soviet Awards Marketplace" is for awards only. Anything which can't be classified as an award should be posted in the "Everything Else Marketplace". This would include for example; books about awards, badges, table medals, flags, banners, bayonets and presentation daggers. A good rule of thumb is that if it isn't pictured in McDaniel's book, it belongs in the "Everything Else Marketplace".

What isn't allowed? anything that is pre-Soviet (before 1917) or post-Soviet (1991-to current day). Seeing as the main topic of this forum is Soviet awards it would make sense to keep your posts of a similar nature.

Regarding authenticity of items in this forum: It is up to the seller to honestly describe his merchandise. Ignorance of authenticity is unacceptable. If you do not know if your item is authentic, it should not be for sale here. Offering an item for sale with the oft-used disclaimer "I bought it from someone and they said it was authentic, but I don't know" is unacceptable and will result in the deletion of the post.

3. How many ads can I post?

For the time being, I ask that each person post no more than 10 items per month. One item per post please. Members are asked to help keep the marketplace neat and delete messages when an item is no longer available. Please indicate in your message subject if the item you are posting is WANTED or FORSALE. For example, "WANTED: Order of Alexander Nevsky" or "FORSALE: Suvorov 3c group"

4. Is it safe to buy here?

CAVEAT EMPTOR (let the buyer beware) You are responsible for the business you conduct within this forum. Please read the Terms of Use Policy for this site. Always ask the seller questions if you are unsure of something. Do not assume anything. Neither myself nor the moderators will act as mediators with issues involving the use of this forum. The most secure way of insuring shipment of merchandise is to use a third-party service such as escrow.com If several complaints are received from several different users about the integrity of the business practices of any user, the user in question will lose all rights to post here, and possibly be banned from the forum altogether. No refund of donations will be given. If you are unable to conduct business in a timely matter, (2 days or more turnaround for email) be sure to advise the other party of this. This is your responsibility.

5. What about pictures? any limitations?

The forum program doesn't allow independent image restrictions for each group so the forum image size restriction (50K) also applies here. You are welcome to post as many images of your item as you feel necessary.

6. Can I advertise my website within my posts?

NO. This special section is not for commercial advertisements. It is for the use of our members and not as a cheap form of advertising for an online business. While donations are greatly appreciated, the same rules which apply to the main forum still apply within the Awards Marketplace section. Ads will be removed that contain website information.
