Since this thread is mostly about the cord, ive decided to put a new question here instead of flooding the forum. Anyway, how were the cords put under the board? I think the boards are sew on, right? If so, how was the cord removed without removing the boards? Or was it when the washed the uniform, they did it with the cord on?

Soviet uniform piece

Wellie777,
As for my dembel everything is sewn on. It would have to have been cleaned with all intact.

Best,
Doc

I admit i wasnt clear enough. This isnt just the dembel, its for all uniforms with sew on boards.

The cord is sewn onto the uniform and the board is usually placed on top and sewn on. The cord can, in most cases, not be removed without first loosing the board. I have had one uniform with a aiguilette that was attached in a interesting way from the edge of the board, but that uniform as an officers, and officers shoulderboards are usually not attached in the "edge". Practically, the easiest way would be to hand it to the girlfriend, wife or a tailor, who owns the proper skills.

As for washing a parade uniform... How often is that done, honestly? :)

The times it is worn divided by 5?

I also sort of know how to sew, but I am not confident that the uniform will remain in good condition if I do it myself...
