Prosecutor uniforms

I have never seen a such uniform before, sounds odd to have uniforms for high court staff (I guess just east bloc and Nazi-germany has this), but ... why not... :)

The set is on eBay and it is not hard to find if you want to see more pics.

The uniform is described as "four star" rank, but actually displays three stars on the lapels. I believe that three stars was the senior level in this branch.

I can't say much for the actual uniform, but the ribbons are definately bad. Considering the lack of wear on the inside, I'm guessing the uniform is one of those made-for-collectors types.

this is one of those uniforms sold by a ukraino-american firm, she sells a LOT of copies...so I don't know if these uniform did exist (certainly , but they're rare and I'm extremly annoyed there's not documentation visible...too exotic...and still no real proof of existence). This seller has a lot of imagination (remember the VDV general is on their catalog). :(:(:(

seller

Charlet you are not correct. The seller is a collector I know who only deals in very nice items, not a Ukrianian importer (its not even a 'she'). Perhaps you need to be a bit more careful before making accusations.

There were soviet prosecutor uniforms, though i have yet to find the rank chart. I do not think that the uniform is made up, though I have strong doubts about the ribbon bars. Most likely unissued late 1980's.

Still , Its a really nice uniform and I think well priced.

I can agree with that. Too bad I don't need one in my collection!

There is a book out on the Uniforms of Soviet KGB and State Security organizations, the author of which I cannot recall. In this book there is a portrait photo of a State Prosecutor wearing this type of uniform. I will try to scan it here a little later, with full details on the book.

A photograph of a prosecutor from "KGB and Soviet Security Uniforms and Militaria", by Bekesi and Torok, Crowood Press, 2002, page 83.

According to this book, prosecutors were designated by the dual stripes on the collar tabs. Assistants to prosecutors had a single stripe down the center of the tab.

Thanks for the photo Bill, this at least ends the debate about there even being this branch of service. dd

Such uniform existed from September 18 1954 through January 30 1990 for employees of Prosecutor’s office of USSR (Prokuratura CCCP).

I can not see well enough to say for sure if it has two stripes or not, but if it’s with two stripes like this one, then rank is Senior Justice Advisor (Starshiy sovetnik ustitsii).
Prosecutor is position, not rank. For example this female Korshunova was actualy Investigator for most important cases (Sledovatel po osobo vaznim delam), not prosecutor.
