Advice on DDR uniforms
Gents,
I finally found a militaria store at Osaka where I`ll try to get a DDR jacket this weekend. However, since in that store I found very nice copies of all kind of stuff (German WWII awards, for example) but also some original things too, I am doubtful about of the authenticity of it. So the questions are... Which details should I take care of to know if the jacket is original or not? Are DDR uniforms of middle-low rank already faked or altered? (BTW, the jacket shoulderboards belonged to a unterleutnant or some close rank.) Any help A.S.A.P is appreciated. Esteban Finally, I could get some pictures of my recent adquisition. Opinions welcome.(BTW, I didn`t know that collar tabs were metallic.) Shoulderboard`s pics will come soon. Enjoy, Esteban

you've got a 1979 second trimestre made jacket, without the cuff tabs, it should be a service jacket (after 1986 parade jackets didn't have cuff tabs and are identical to service ones, the modification being done with belt, dress aiguillette)...
now you need 2,3 or 4 gold stars on yours officers shoulder boards.
